I think my first exposure to Atiba Jefferson was in a Transworld interview he did with a Misled Youth-era Jamie Thomas, which was published sometime around ’98. Since then, Atiba has been steady crushing, diversifying from skating into basketball and other types of photography, but always remembering his love for the wood. Continue reading

The marketing campaign for Osiris’ The Storm was the first I ever fell victim to. Stoked by ads saying something like, “On 9/9/99, the Biggest Video Ever Will Drop”, I gave it as a Christmas gift to my little brother. We threw it in and were greeted by a young Jerry Hsu, who was not representative of the storm of slow skating and low to the ground flips to come. Jerry skated switch with a clean style and his part was among the few (Kanten Russell, Chad Knight, Chad Fernandez) in that video whose skating didn’t feel like a bad interpretation of 1993. Braydon Szafranski has a reputation for being one of the coolest dudes in skateboarding and it turns out that he actually is. Coming off a banging last part in the Zero vid, Jamie Tancowny is still completely down to earth and just seems genuinely stoked on things. But rather than write a boring introduction about how hard we bro’d down, or how if you see them you should totally say what’s up, I’m going to write an introduction in Chinglish.
